Wireless

Reliable and expansive wireless connectivity is a top technology priority for every business. Spotty connections or dead spots within an office environment can be extremely frustrating for employees, partners, and clients alike. As wireless design consultants, Teladata covers all the bases and factors in potential signal blocks before and during construction to ensure seamless connectivity from all wireless access points.

OUR PROCESS

Teladata takes a multi-phased approach to ensure reliable, secure wireless connectivity throughout a facility.

Planning

Our first step is a planning phase in which we review construction documents and building plans to develop a deep understanding of the facility. We use specialized software to simulate wireless access points (APs) and model performance characteristics like signal strength, bandwidth, attenuation, and channel planning. Once we understand elements with the potential to block wireless coverage—walls, elevators, equipment, furniture, etc.—we can start to determine the best locations for wireless APs, and we make recommendations for specific quantities and types. We also create a heat map that clearly shows each access point and its potential coverage and strength.

Validation

Next, we visit the job site and walk the entire facility with a predictive Wi-Fi survey tool that allows us to validate our proposed plan for accuracy, complete coverage, placement, and more. This onsite survey allows us to mount APs temporarily so we can validate real-world wireless performance within the planned coverage area. This survey concludes with a heat map report of our findings and recommendations for optimal performance. We may also discover unforeseen blockages or challenges during this phase. Uncovering potential challenges now ensures adequate coverage during implementation and reduces the need to redo work down the line.

Review and Test

After the wireless APs have been installed, Teladata’s wireless team will revisit the facility to review and test connectivity, identifying weak signals and tweaking as needed to make sure every square inch of the facility enjoys adequate wireless coverage. We measure each AP’s actual performance, identify coverage or throughput issues, and advise on final adjustment recommendations to ensure your wireless network performs as designed.

Wireless Planning & Reporting

Before construction begins, we use specialized software to simulate wireless APs and model performance characteristics like signal strength, bandwidth, attenuation, and channel planning.

Predictive Surveying & Access Point Validation

Using a predictive Wi-Fi survey tool, we’ll walk the job site and determine the best locations for wireless APs. We also create a heat map that supports our recommendations with a clear visual of coverage and signal strength.

Connectivity Review and Testing

Our job isn’t over when construction wraps up. We’ll visit your facility again to make sure our wireless plans perform as designed. After a thorough review, we may make recommendations for improvements.
