Cameras and All-in-Ones and AV Design Tools—Oh My! Teladata Takes on InfoComm 2024
Teladata’s Audiovisual (AV) team members met in Las Vegas in June to attend InfoComm 2024, the AV industry’s largest trade show in North America. We joined thousands of AV professionals from around the world to learn about the latest developments in AV. Between scheduled booth tours with our clients, cutting-edge product demos, and networking with vendors and AV professionals, we had a jam-packed week of learning, exploration, and growth. We always leave InfoComm with fresh ideas and strategies for Teladata and our clients.
Conference Room Upgrades: Multi-Camera Setups
The pandemic forever changed how we work, ushering in a hybrid work environment that demands sophisticated video capacity. Four years into ubiquitous virtual meetings, conference room technology is becoming more refined and intuitive than ever. When a handful of virtual employees join a larger team meeting in person, the AV logistics can be complex. When a single camera shows the entire conference room, virtual attendees can have a difficult time deciphering who is speaking, let alone maximizing the benefits of the camera during a video conference call.
Products like the QSC Seervision and Crestron’s intelligent video cameras are changing the video conference call game. By placing multiple cameras strategically throughout a conference room, these intelligent cameras ensure a dynamic experience for all meeting participants. Remote attendees will get a view of the entire room plus individuals, and the technology can track presenters and follow conversations automatically, providing the best view of each speaker from different cameras.
While this type of conference room setup will take front-end planning, installation, and automation, the final result will be better, more engaging meetings and a more productive team overall.
All-In-One Soundbar Solutions
For those looking to invest in a more straightforward solution, all-in-one sound bars have made vast improvements over the past few years. What began with the Owl has evolved into intuitive devices that enable multiple high-quality cameras, microphones and speakers from a single USB.
The Teladata team took a closer look at the Neat Bar 2 and was impressed with its versatility and ease of use. Its 50-megapixel cameras capture the entire room and allow users to digitally zoom in on speakers to give a better representation of everyone in the room. The Neat Bar 2 is audio-extensible, so it can be connected to network-based speakers and microphones, similar to the Sennheiser Team Connect Bar.
Logitech and Neat have released tabletop multi-camera options to augment the camera built into their soundbars. The Neat Center and Logitech Sight add a tabletop microphone with the cameras to provide a more immersive video call for remote participants.
New and Improved AV Design Tools
One of the most exciting things our team was able to explore at InfoComm was 3D AV design tools that incorporate virtual reality (VR) software components into design. AV designers can use this software to build out rooms to spec, and use a VR headset to manipulate products, placement, and room design in real time.
The software we explored included exact measurements and coverage ranges for microphones and cameras. If you’re not satisfied with the camera angles, for example, you can move the cameras around the room to find the best placement.
We could build out a conference room quickly and take clients for a tour of their potential space. This type of tool will allow AV professionals to communicate with clients better, providing an interactive experience of the design versus helping clients visualize what could be from traditional drawings. From an AV consultant’s perspective, the possibilities are endless.
Looking Forward to Continued AV Advancements
We learned and saw so much at InfoComm 2024. We had a blast learning, networking, and strengthening Teladata’s position as a trusted AV consultant. We’re already incorporating new strategies for our clients and are looking forward to other audiovisual trade shows.
