Nearly Two Decades of Workplace Technology Partnership
VMware is a cloud computing and virtualization technology company headquartered in Palo Alto, California and operating from numerous global locations. Since 2005, Teladata has been VMware’s trusted workplace technology partner, adapting to deliver exemplary services as the company expanded through growth and acquisition.
After the Teladata team exceeded expectations to complete work on VMware’s on-premise data center, VMware engaged Teladata’s expertise to design and project manage IT infrastructure, wireless, distributed antenna systems (DAS), audiovisual, and security, throughout their headquarters campus. This multi-phased project included significant demolition before constructing a new five-building campus and parking garage.
VMware’s unique headquarters facilities included office spaces, labs, specialty AV spaces, and on-premise data center facilities. Teladata worked alongside VMware during the project to establish and implement technology standards throughout the new facilities.
Steve Brogley, Teladata’s senior project manager, created detailed design documents and oversaw the implementation of VMware’s IT Infrastructure installations, ensuring their network could support various systems and technologies over the next two decades. VMware grew its footprint to include 18 buildings at their Palo Alto campus and many more across the nation and internationally. Teladata ensured that new facilities, whether newly built or renovated, met VMware’s specifications and standards.
Throughout their long engagement, Teladata also periodically updated and modernized VMware’s technology standards as technology and equipment evolved. For example, when VMware engaged Teladata for audiovisual and security technology, Teladata updated the standards and proactively worked to bring all facilities up to the new standard. Teladata also helped design and implement unique spaces like theater rooms, interactive touch displays, and large video walls with complete trust from VMware to execute each project.
VMware has relied on Teladata to support its growth, trusting the team to act as prime on many national and international projects over the past two decades. On some projects, Teladata managed all subcontractor work to ensure facilities from newly acquired companies met VMware’s standards. Teladata has completed domestic work for VMware in Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, and more.
Teladata worked on remote VMware offices all over the world, including managing workplace technology implementations in Australia, Canada, China, throughout Europe, and more. In Costa Rica, Teladata worked on a multi-building campus that included several phases to bring the VMware brand, look/feel, and functionality to unique spaces. The project included a 2-story building, a 6-story building, and 3 floors within a 5-story building located a few blocks away. Teladata collaborated through language barriers, international building codes, and new suppliers and vendors to ensure VMware’s Costa Rican facility functioned as designed from the start.
Continued Partnership
VMware has grown exponentially, ultimately positioning the company for acquisition by Broadcom in 2023. Teladata and VMware have completed over 300 projects together since 2005, demonstrating incredible mutual trust and respect. Teladata’s long history, depth of institutional knowledge, and commitment to high-quality service were essential to creating a seamless experience at every VMware location. Teladata looks forward to continued collaboration and partnership with VMware team members throughout their continued technology journey, wherever that may be.
